Founder
As a mentor and coach, I have a passion for nurturing the talents and abilities of young people. I think that every child has a unique potential that can be unlocked and developed with the right guidance and support.
I also think that every child should have a clear and meaningful job purpose that aligns with their values and interests, and that enables them to collaborate with others and make a positive impact on society. Whether they pursue part-time or full-time careers, sports or arts, they deserve to have access to various opportunities for career growth and professional development. My goal is to create a positive and safe environment where they can learn, grow and thrive.
Thanks
Cordelia
Mentoring and empowering the young generation is a rewarding and meaningful activity. I support them with academic and career decisions that suit their goals and abilities. I connect with my mentees through various sources, such as online platforms, networking events, or recommendations from other mentors. For example, I recently mentored a student who wanted to study engineering. I helped him find the best program, apply, and interview. This is how I contribute to the future of our society and world.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, you can start by identifying your areas of expertise and passion. Then, you can look for opportunities to share your knowledge and experience with others who can benefit from it. You can also join a mentoring organization or network that matches you with potential mentees. Mentoring is a great way to give back, learn new things, and expand your network.
Bullying, online trafficking, suicide, drug use, exploitation and threats are serious issues that affect many students and the community. These problems can have devastating consequences for the victims and their families, as well as for the perpetrators and their future prospects. It is important to raise awareness about these issues and to provide support and resources for those who are struggling or at risk.
As a school, we are committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for all our students and staff. We do not tolerate any form of bullying, harassment, violence or discrimination. We have policies and procedures in place to prevent and address these behaviors, and to protect the rights and dignity of everyone in our school community. We also have counselors, social workers, psychologists and other professionals who can offer help and guidance to those who need it.
We also encourage our students to be responsible and ethical digital citizens, who use the internet and social media in positive and constructive ways. We educate them about the dangers and risks of online trafficking, exploitation and threats, and how to avoid them. We teach them how to protect their personal information, privacy and reputation online, and how to report any suspicious or inappropriate activities or messages. We also partner with law enforcement agencies and community organizations to combat online trafficking and exploitation, and to support the victims.
We also care about the mental health and well-being of our students. We know that some of them may face challenges or difficulties in their lives that can affect their mood, behavior, academic performance and relationships. We want them to know that they are not alone, and that there is hope and help available. We provide them with information and resources on how to cope with stress, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts or feelings, drug use or addiction, or any other issues that may concern them. We also encourage them to seek help from a trusted adult, such as a parent, teacher, counselor or friend, if they are feeling overwhelmed or hopeless.
We believe that by bringing awareness to these issues, we can empower our students to make informed and healthy choices for themselves and others. We can also foster a culture of compassion, empathy and respect in our school and community. We can also prevent or reduce the occurrence and impact of these problems, and save lives

Boys and Girls Club
"Our Mission
The purpose of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland is to develop our community’s youth into positive contributors to society.
To accomplish its purpose, Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland (BGCO) provides programs and services tailored to the special needs of today’s youth and supplementary to the endeavors of families, our schools, and other community-based organizations.
BGCO is an autonomous member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the national youth development Movement which seeks to enable all young people, those who need us most in particular, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. To fulfill its local mission, BGCO delivers outcome-driven Club experiences and incorporates the Five Key Elements for Positive Youth Development — a safe, positive environment; fun; supportive relationships; opportunities and expectations; and recognition — into its service delivery system; ensures the delivery of high-yield activities and targeted programs; and increases the regular attendance, participation and retention of its registered student-members with emphasis on attracting and holding the interest of teens.
Continuing at the forefront of its field and endeavoring to deepen the impact of its youth development services, BGCO’s stretch goal continues as to engage and service the significant and changing needs of up to 4,000 youth toward our objective of engaging 10% of our Oakland Unified School District’s enrollment; then ensuring that each can read at grade level by third grade and graduates from high school on time. The organization’s near-term plans include helping our young people to safely navigate the COVID-19 pandemic while remaining on track academically.
Locally, we provide safe places to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals, life-enhancing programs, character development experiences, hope, and opportunity for over 2,500 girls and boys ages 6 to 17 each year. It costs us about $850 per child each year to deliver our services. We plan to expand our capacity in order to serve an even greater number of young people in the future. Our goal is to serve a minimum of 5,000 youth - 10% of the Oakland Public School District's enrollment.
